A Word · Encouragement

With Open Arms :::

In undergraduate school I took a nonverbal communication class. We learned about an individual’s body position and the indications that position makes about their desires for communication. If they are turned away while you’re talking to them, it usually means they’re not too interested in communicating with you and if they are facing you, in an open position, they are usually interested.

I was amazed with how true that statement was when I heard it. I saw how I was operating this way before I even know it was an actual behavior of communication. If I was talking with someone and they didn’t seem to be giving me attention through body position or even eye contact, I would grow frustrated and often times just stop talking until I felt like I had their attention.welcome

So often we go through things in life that aren’t fun. Sometimes we experience heartbreak, hurt, rejection and disappointment and it’s so easy to wonder if God is even facing our direction. Some days I just want to get those lights the ground crew uses for the plane as it’s coming in or leaving the airport and wave my arms violently in the air and scream, “HEY GOD!!!!!! DAD! REMEMBER ME!? YEA ME!!!!! WHAT IS GOING ON?!?!?!?!”

Maybe I’m alone with that desire but I’m almost certain that I’m not. I was thinking about some things in my heart today with God and I began to hear Him say “come”. Over and over again, I heard the word come in my spirit. I get to work and I turn on my Kari Jobe station on Pandora and the song I hear is Jenn Johnson and Bethel Music’s “Come to Me”. I love that song by the way! It’s so simple.

The chorus is probably my favorite part…

“Come to me, I’m all you need. Come to me, I’m your everything.”

I began to meditate on the Lord and He began to speak His truth and today I want to encourage you in the Lord with His word.

God says,

“Come. I am what you need. I’m the one you’re looking for. You were never designed to carry the burden that you are carrying. Come.”

God’s back isn’t turned to you. In fact, He’s standing before you now in a posture of open arms. He knows what you’ve done and He knows your thoughts. He knows what you’re dealing with and He knows how you feel. And His arms are still open to you. Open with love, hope, forgiveness, redemption, and peace.

Come.

In love,

C.B.
